Grant
Grant’s job is to answer your questions about your software operations, send each piece of work to the teammates who own it, and follow your decisions.
On this page
What Grant does
- Answers across every area, from the team’s briefs, findings and your decisions
- Sending each question to the teammates who own it, and putting their answers together
- Reminders to a finding’s owner when it is assigned and when its review date comesPro
- Following each postmortem action item until it is done, and saying when the same incident comes backStudio
- Alerts you ask for on numbers the team already reads, such as AWS spend or CI on mainPro
What you can ask
Ask in your own words; these are a start.
- “What needs my attention this week?”
- “Are we on track against our AWS budget?”Pro
- “What did the team find since Monday?”
- “Flag me if AWS goes over $3k this month.”Pro
What you get
Two things need you: a critical lodash alert in api (Priya) and an AWS forecast 4.5% over budget (Liz). CI on main has been slower since Tuesday (Maya). Noah has no metrics for the queue worker, so its health is unknown.
What Grant reads
His team’s briefs, the findings and your decisions
When Grant works
Whenever you ask. On paid plans he consults the team as he needs it; on Free he answers from their saved briefs.
What Grant may do
Answers from the team’s briefs and asks teammates for new work. Starts standing work, such as a watch or an alert, only when you ask.
What Grant never does
- Start standing work, such as a watch or an alert, unless a person asks
- Merge, deploy or change anything in the company’s cloud
- Claim something was done that the team did not do
- Act on a reply to a reminder; decisions are made on the finding
- Mark an incident follow-up done himself; he says when he sees proof, and a person closes it
